The end of 5 years...

Wow.. can't believe it...5 years of medical training just ended 2 days ago..To be honest, I didn't have any 'special' feelings until I came back Ipoh, opened up Facebook and saw everyone posting their comments and feelings about ending the 5-year medical training school.. Then only I started to wonder and look back at all the loooooong 5 years that I've spent together with my coursemates. It's a wonder, to spend such a long time, creating memories (all sorts - happy,sad,torturing,scary) with them.

First year, we were still very much getting to know each other. Thanks to the great orientation (kekeke), we got to know each other pretty fast. And later, were times spent running from room to room, calling each other for meals, going out, pasar malam, lectures and all that anatomy smelly stuff.

Then, second year, the year where we moved out to rent an apartment. Then, we had the experience of going to MidValley every wk for 'morning market' and all the 'si lai' stuff. :-)) I practically started from zero (burnt fried egg) and started venturing into the kitchen. That was the time we were able to leisurely sit infront of the tv every evening and watch HK drama and eat dinner together. So free! Oh year, not to mention the birthday celebrations for our housemates and the funny cakes that we've made. :-p

Third/Forth year, start of our clinical years in Klang. I think Klang is one of the best times in my medical school, as it's the beginning ot clinical stuff, which is new and fresh to us. Plus, we're under no high expectations by the lecturers - we're considered 'young' and therefore it's ok if we still don't know much! (what a good excuse) haha. Then then then, around the Klang hostel, just within walking distance we're able to get our stomach satisfied with Chinese food. And the timetable is pretty flexible and free, leaving us free to look for food and still got time to study. :p The best of both worlds. haha.

Fifth/final year, aih....the pressure starts coming in, as at this stage, the expectation suddenly rises when you're a final year. Not to mention the new postings - like orthopedics, psy, minor, obs on call and all that...busy, packed, end of postings every 6 wks...leaving us little time for proper food. (why is my blog/life all about food?!) Time's precious in final year but nevertheless, we managed to squeeze in some fun everyday, making jokes with our coursemates, skipping unneccesary classes. ;-p

That's the end of our 5 year medical school life. What's ahead is 3 more weeks of study week, and 2 weeks of exam... scary and torturing... but then, we came in and worked hard for 5 years so that we can finally pass and graduate, so these 3 wks ++ are just..well, passing phase. Gambateh! 3 more weeks to go! :-))

Looking forward to bali bali bali... yeah!

Celebrating L.O.V.E.! :p

Happy Valentine's Day! :-)))) To me, love means encompassing acceptance and forgiveness. Love keeps no record of past wrongs. Love appreciates and love cherishes. Love wants only the best for each other. And the true love of all starts with loving oneself unconditionally, and only then can one extend her love to those around.

Love is patient and kind;
Love is not jealous or boastful;
it is not arrogant or rude.

Love does not insist on its own way;
it is not irritable or resentful;
it does not rejoice at wrong,
but rejoices in the right.

Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,

endures all things.

Principles of Life!

1. Love is joyful awareness. Love life--people, animals, nature, gardening, art and music, sports and exercise, literature, God--anything and anyone that brings you a joyful awareness of the wonder of being a living creature.

2. Gratitude satisfies the spirit. Be grateful for all that you love and if you cannot think of anyone or anything that love, then be grateful you still have a chance to love. Be especially grateful for the opportunity help and to serve other people and good causes.

3. Gratitude is the antidote to self-pity. Feeling sorry for oneself is ruinous. Especially don't fall into believing that we live in the worst of times. It takes little imagination to know how much worse it has been for other people in previous ages and in other places. Be grateful for this life.

4. Ethics guide the good life. Put ethics and principles above pleasure, convenience, safety, income, career, your presumed place in the world, and the way others view you. Living a principled life is the key to a satisfying life.

5. Everything good requires courage. Find the courage to love, to be grateful, and to live by sound ethics. Especially be brave enough to speak when you are afraid.

6. Dare to seek romantic love. Abiding love for a partner in life is the nearest we get to heaven this time around.

7. Make a living by doing something that you love. Many people find a way to do it. Your occupation should feel like a privilege, a pleasure, and an opportunity to serve.

8. Approach every single challenge in life with determination to master it. Otherwise you won't handle it. Feeling helpless in the face of adversity is a prescription for failure. Deciding to take on the challenges is a prescription for self-satisfaction and makes success more likely.

9. Don't hide from or stifle your painful emotions. Feeling pain signals that there is something wrong in your life that needs immediate attention. Invite your painful emotions to tell you everything they can about what you really want out of life. All psychoactive substances, from illegal drugs to psychiatric medications, suppress our real emotions and should be avoided, especially in time of suffering and fear when we especially need to know what we are feeling.

10. Reject being labeled with a psychiatric diagnosis like depression, bipolar disorder or anxiety. There are no "psychiatric disorders;" only life disorders. All of us have to struggle, to go through hard times, and to find a way of becoming more in control of our emotions and more successful in our actions.

11. Don't think of yourself as a survivor. Intending to survive guarantees little more than getting by. Think of yourself as some who intends to triumph.

12. Forgiving other people liberates us from hate. You won't get even by hating, you'll get miserable, bitter and spiritless. Take care of yourself by forgiving, and if necessary by avoiding hurtful people, but don't waste a minute hating.

13. Seek a worthwhile life rather than happiness. The search for happiness will distract you from what matters and even make you crazy. Happiness is often a matter of luck--the way we are shaped by childhood, where we happen to be born, health, and circumstance.

14. No one knows the meaning of life but it's certain that life is best lived with love, gratitude, ethics, courage, and a determination to give it your best effort. A sense of worth is guaranteed and happiness will often tag along as well.

15. Let your spirit be touched, and touch the spirit of others, with love.

Celebrating the end of CNY! ;-)

Wow... discipline is definitely not enough here!!! Final exam in just 6 weeks and we're playing cards and shouting and gambling and staying up late chit chatting on top of the KL city. Hehe. But the memories are certainly worth the late night!

Cham, today I'm suffering from the aftermaths of staying up so late. So hard to climb out from the bed...and keeping staring blankly during study group in the hot hot afternoon...just wanna doze off and 'refill' my sleep debt. Haha!

Some breathtakingly nice photos to share, taken by our dedicated photographer Mr Goat. ;-)

Deng deng deng deng.... --> presenting the 9 gambling kings and queens! The 'old thousand' won all of our hard earned $$..sob sob...but luckily we ate back what's worth in his house into our stomach..hehe..so no win no lose. ;-p

The demented dog!

Yay! Finally found it! Saw this very cute and hilarious cartoon during class yesterday and wanted to post it in my blog. Dr used this cartoon to illustrate to us how the demented patients will, like this dog, lost their way in familiar places.

Hahahahaa.. so funny.. you see the dog, still got a drop of tear hanging at the egde of its eye! Hahahahahah.. but I thought dogs can find their own way home one.. oh ya.. demented la.. cham... wondering whether my Ruby will one day become like this. kekekeke. Alzheimer's dog! :-P And instead of the usual 'humans post lost dog notice', this dog is pasting the 'lost human' notice everywhere... kelian de dog! hahahahhaaha..

Ok, enough of laughing! Back to studying! hehehehe. :P

Of intention and thanksgiving

I like the word 'intend'. It's like wanting something but you don't set out to want it NOW or in any fixed way. You're ok with anything that comes along and it just puts you in a peaceful piece of mind. Intend intend intend. :-)

About thanks-giving. Everyday is a thanks giving day, more so on the new year. When you give thanks, you'll get more of it. So, whatever it is that you want, or *intend* to have in that matter (hehe), give thanks to whatever that you already have. And what's that for a good way to start a new year - so that you'll have more and loads of the good things in this coming year! :)

Lalalalalala! I intend to.... _____________ (fill in the blank) and I'm grateful for the ______ that I already have.

(example: I intend to have doraemon in my life and I'm grateful for the doraemon picturez that I already have. hehehhehehe)

The first day of 2009!

Lalalalala... wishing everyone an exciting and wonderful year ahead! Whatever it is that we're going through now, they're just perfect for the time being. Cherish, and enjoy in the moment! Make the best out of everything you have - which is a lot I suppose! :-)

We'll all do fine.

Side note to share: yesterday I had a very magnificent view of genting highlands from the low land! Imagine a chain of lantern lights shinning and berkelip-kelip in the middle of the sky out of nowhere.. it's like a city itself hanging in the sky! And 隐隐约约 you can see 绽放的烟花 on top of the lantern. 真的很美!:-)) Should get a chance to take a view of it if there is!
