Taste the soup! ~~

Hi! Welcome back to my little web presence! :-) Life's beautiful, depending how you view it. And here's an inspiring story to share - about living in the present.

I'm learning to live in the moment, starting from NOW!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When we were babies no one had to teach us how to live in the moment.
There were toes to discover and sunbeams to play with. Only the present moment existed.

Then we grew up and many of us forgot how to stay fully present. We started remembering the past and rehearsing the future. Then if we were lucky, someone or some thing reminded us that life can only be lived in the here and now.

For some of us, it was something we read in a book or heard in a workshop or a church. For me, the "aha" moment happened while I was having lunch with my good friend, Walt Busby.

It was the seventies and I was Director of the Blood Supply at the new blood bank which I had helped organize in Gainesville, Florida. It was having growing pains and I was complaining to Walter about the boss, the stress, and being on call for emergencies. Then I launched into what was happening with my new boyfriend, my mother, my children.

We had both ordered cucumber soup, a first for me, and I barely noticed that Walter wasn't eating his. I was too busy going on and on about me, me, me. I was devouring the soup and talking non-stop between gulps.

I started to share my upcoming vacation plans when Walter gently interrupted me to say,

"I get so lonely when I take you to lunch."

I was stunned.

"What do you mean," I said, "I'm right here."

"No you're not. You're at the blood bank. You're with your boyfriend, your mother, and your kids. You're on your vacation. You're everywhere but here with me sharing this moment."

I felt like crying for some reason. I didn't know why. I told Walter I didn't know what that meant, "to be in the moment."

I was always remembering and reporting things that happened already or wondering about, rehearsing, and planning for the future. Nothing much seemed to happen in the moment. I will never forget his answer that changed my life.

"How's your soup?"

"My soup?"

Why was he asking me about my soup in the middle of our conversation?
I thought for a second, and then answered truthfully, "I don't know."

"Taste it," he said.

I did, and almost gagged. It tasted awful!

"Yuk, that's the worst-tasting soup I've ever had. I can't eat that."

"I know," he smiled. "It's terrible. That's why I didn't eat mine. I watched you mindlessly eating a whole bowl of soup while you were so busy being somewhere else. I couldn't believe you actually liked the soup. You weren't paying any attention to it. That's what being here now is about.
Taste the soup.”

Men dancing in tutus!

It's a rare thing for a whole troup of ballet company to come perform in Malaysia, more so when it's an all-men company!

It was two wks ago that I went for the Men in Tutus performance in KL Performing Arts Centre.
For those who don't know, tutus mean by round outskirt that ballerinas wear classically. :)

I had so much fun and got myself a jaw fatigue syndrome after laughing too much during the show! And also painful hands after clapping too much!

Gosh, seeing all those muscular arms dancing graceful ballet is one hilarious scene, and not to mention the ketiak bulu that serves as an icing on the cake. hahaha. My favourite is the dying swan part - which is performed by the company director himself.

I like how they made fun of the little things that hardworking ballet dancers spend so much time perfecting their skills! And the dancer who squeeze his buttocks while going back backstage.

And during the first scene, there was this dancer who dances so gracefully until I can't help but keep on asking ' really is guy a?!'. Then, after seeing their real photos (guy) in the booklet that Koksoon bought, I'm convinced. Makeup can really turn the gender around so much! Wow.

Ok ok, as much as I wish to pen down and share with you the funni-ness of the show, I think these youtube clips will serve the purpose better. hihi

enjoy! ;-)

ps: after the show, few dancers came out - and wow - the dying swan de fake eye lashes was like so outstandingly looooooong! hahaha. Managed to take some photos with them - they are so friendly and hugging us when taking photos - haha!

Still waiting for my photos cocky lee!

pps: thanks also to mr juliet who got the tickets for us and brought me to the most delicious cha siew that I've ever eaten in my life! :p

More food! ~~

This time, food from my own house. :p

sweet sweet caramel pudding
hihi...later! :p

。。deng deng deng deng --->>

Yay!! 好成功!:p

简易Apple Pie! ~
Delicious! :)))

Bali Living like a Queen

OldTownKopitiam at LCCT: white coffee + toast with butter (my favourite but got gobbled up by us before we managed to take a photo of it!)

It was the first day of opening there so things are like a bit kelam kabut there - the table next to us who arrived like 20 minutes later than us got their meal already while we're still waiting for our eye opener (coffeee!) Luckily we got things to keep us occupied - like me last minute practising my SLR skill, going through our travel notes, and playing with my new handphone -red hot color de. :p The food there are expensive by about rm2 each item.

Too bored on the plane -bought some food to keep us occupied. To my surprise -the fried rice with satay actually tasted not bad -I actually liked it! But I guess everything with a holiday mood will be nice!

Our first meal in Bali!!!

At a restaurant called 'Bamboo Restaurant', just 100 steps away from our staying place called Fat Yogi (not exactly fantastic, but more later) in Kuta. The first thing we noticed on the menu was 'Avocado juice'! We have never tried it in M'sia before so we thought it's something new and fresh and straight away ordered it without thinking twice. It turned out to be a very pekat drink, a very creamy kind of texture that makes you fill like you have to have the energy of blowing a balloon to be able to suck in the juice. And it's very fulling indeed! Like eating juice. Haha. (hmm..eating juice...haha!) I suppose the avocado juice itself has no distinct flavor, so they added in cocklat cream inside to give flavor? I'm not sure, but I think this combination is ok to me. Not a big fan of chocolate, infact an enermy of mine, but then a little bit won't hurt. hehe :p Thumbs up for this drink - must try in Bali - infact I'm so sure that you will surely come across this if you're there. It turned out that our first avocado juice in bamboo restaurant is the cheapest - 60k rupiah (rm2).

Still in bamboo restaurant, this is Kalazan fried chicken.
Pork satay. Yummy! I like the sauce. Must try in Bamboo. Our first dinner in Kuta - the famous Jimbaran Beachside dinner. The atmosphere is something you've to experience it yourself. Think - candlelight dinner facing the endless dark beach with water splashing sounds and breezy wind. Well, didn't feel anything right..told you have to experience it yourself! :p

We ordered a red snapper fish - forgot the weight, but comes with rice, vege, drink, fruits and some appertizers. Total bill is about rm30+ each. Okla..half heartedly enjoyed the dinner, coz 1. very dark, cannot see well, so less one sensing organ to enjoy (hahahahhaha) and 2, got those bands coming to you selling their voices to you. Iwas praying so hard so that they dun come, coz I don't want outsider intruding my dinner. hahah! (finally they din come to our table - yeah!)

our dinner: --->

The place where they cook and prepare. After I taken the photo they were very happy and said 'Thank you!' hahahah.
Everyone who goes into the restaurant gets a flower -fresh one! Like! :p The next day, we went to Kintamani volcano -it's at a higher altitude so the weather turns cooler as we climb (ermm..using car..haha). The view is magnificient! We were lucky to reach at an off-peak hour, still able to get an outdoor place -so that we could lunch facing the volcano!

The view is so nice that before meal, we take photos take photos take photos..Then after eating, we again take photos take photos non stop. HAhaha. Blek! :p From outdoor to indoor, haha, until things like this also come out.
to be continued...need a break -Kit Kat! :p

In the midst again...

...of finding myself. Hmm...lately has been worrying a little bit about housemanship. Been browsing left and right about it whole day, taking in other people's opinion, and learned some lessons about other people's experience. To be honest, I can't imagine myself in it - how am I going to endure the 36 hours non stop working and how am I going to be in alert condition all the time? *@^#%@^@* Whatever, it's something I HAD to do - so no choice. Just do it! (aihhhhhh............................)

The only good thing I realized that comes with all these torturing is...I'm guaranteed to lose at least 10kg!!! hahahaha! Yeah, go grab another piece of cake first. :p :p :p

ps: bali post, wait wait...have to find the mood first de.

Live like a king 之Bali trip - 前奏

Blek! :p Very enjoyable and happy indeed this trip to Bali. Living like a king with servants and personal drivers. hohohoho!

A peek of my everyday there...

Wake up to a wide green field of paddy, swimming in magnificient natural views every early morning (like...7am?),
breakfast sipping real pure juice at the paddyfield side,
touring around the island like a queen (king or queen? hehe) (side note: this photo taken with my SE850i hp - acceptable quality)

and lastly end the tiring journey with sensual relaxing massage followed by floral bath n tea n fruits at bath tub side.
Oh no no, the day doesn't end with that. haha! When the night hits, it's time to tame our stomach in a more breezy and cooling weather with a renewed soul and spirit! Yeahhhh!

Blek!

See pictures tell story 2

Driving back Ipoh! Tut tut.. (train?). Nola, is little kancil! :p Made full use of the small little kancil. Got a chair inside somemore.

And to thank the dedicated driver, here's the tantalizing food for rewards, and many other food which we forgot to take photos, due to excessive indulgence in serving our stomach's rats. :p

This is from the tong sui gai just opposite Samtet school. Loaded with fruits de ABC! Got dragon fruit somemore. First time! But we were too full by then to really enjoy the vitamins loaded dessert.

This morning attempted chawanmuchi...it didn't come out as smooth as my face skin (ahem!) hehe.. the aluminium foil's fault! It flied off at some places, that's why the steam went inside and made it like a lot of acne mark!! :p next time will be a better one.

And for afternoon tea, here's it! Pizzaaaaaaaaaaaa......cheese loaded. sinful. fattening. but delicious! :-)

And here's my supper - don't sweat first - I just weighed, is still within expandable range. haha! :p can eat more! Yeah!

Whoooo... finally paid off my blog debt. Can happily go enjoy my Bali trip! I wan massageeeeeeee and spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! *elated mood* :-)))))))))))))))))))))))))))

See pictures tell story...

A recordance of the many happenings during the past 2 weeks. Time really flies fast. Just 2 weeks ago I was announced to have passed my final exam (somemore ended up in dean's list completely out of my expectation), and followed up a celebration dinner in Hotel Amanda...

Therefore, the 'confused' and 'why is it me' expression on my face when I take this picture. But very fast, I got into the mood....

and I started to smile and even did I little bit of dancing with my feet. :p Haha. Lalalala!

Can you spot the professor in this photo? Heheh. One of the most funny and exciting experience in my clinical years. Ask me about it next time la! :p

Pretty smart girls.. :p Really miss those student days!! And right after the result was announced in the lecture hall, we headed straight to the UM 09 board to snap down our joy and happiness. :-) we were high and estatic to say the least. but at the same time feel sad for those who were not able to make it this time round.

and a mini graduation in our faculty the next day where my whole family came down to visit (ermm..and to drive back some of my stuff. hehe)

And below, are the many tasty saliva drooling food that I bought them to in KL. First is the Sushi Zanmai in The Gardens. I liked it there since eating it with my girls after an exam, so the feeling of relaxation and relief is still felt there. :p The power of association. Hmm.. something for the retailers to think about. hehe.

What I like about Sushi Zanmai is that they make good use of mayonaise in their kalten belt sushi, very special indeed! And their price is in the ok range. Shop is comfortable and cozy and warm. There's always long queue outside the shop, but very luckily the two times we went there we were able to avoid the peak eating hours, therefore can go straight inside and enjoy!! Wa I really can talk non stop about it. Show one picture first.
My favourite Unagi! This is yummy, the 'zhap' is really rich and flavourish. Thumbs up!
The next day, we went to The Curve and we were there quite early, thinking to grab a brunch. And while strolling outside the many still in coma state restaurants, we came to this seemingly high class restaurant named PHOP. Huh? hehe.. is Paddington House of Pancake la!

see, this is what I called high class. :-)

They are having a set lunch promotion, RM 13.80 ++ gets you a drink (coffee/tea), main course of many country representative (from pancakes to fish to chicken to beef and many more) and a 'dollar pancake' dessert. We were excited when we first saw this.. and while eating and enjoying the main course we were like wondering whether we have read it right that it's only that price?! Coz it's really very big size and very 'sincere'.

Ok, show picture. Here's my little sis's pancake set, with bacon and the vegetable popiah. Haha, catching her dripping the honey on the pancakes.
This is my 'dei dou lan' fish! The fish was cooked till just right, with very attractive decoration by red cherry tomatoes, the green popiah and the yellow mashed potatoes. Dear to sight. :p

And here, introducing the cute surprise (? keke) of the day! 'Dollar pancake' they call it, coz the pancake is of the size of a dollar. haha. So cute. Small little pancake. I like! :p Somemore in a sea of ice cream and strawberry jam and some peanuts. Very creative indeed, can easily imitate at home - so I registered it in my mind...
...and few days after that when I returned home...Little sis wanted to eat pancake, so I find find find then decided on a pancake recipe.. And while frying the pancake, I suddenly got an idea - DING! - I want to do like the PHOP de. hehehehe. So I was there making the pancake into different sizes by controlling the amount of batter used in each scoop..

Yeah, fun fun fun! And this is what came out! :p

I really like this photo. You can see the top most small pancake is there, standing tall, despite being like so fragile. Hmm.. :p My pancake tower. haha
And after drizzling some sweet honey, here's the more tantalizing version of my pancake tower! (PHOP, dun steal my idea! haha. who steal whose first a? dunno le.) :p

My pratha. One of the home's day's breakfast. Fat. haha.

To be continued... more photos to uplaod and more old people story to tell. haha. :p
